Priest conducts Catholic service to name 45 aborted babies found in Gosnell clinic

A Catholic priest presided over a service Thursday to give proper names to the 45 babies whose bodies were found in the West Philadelphia abortion clinic of Dr. Kermit Gosnell. He is charged with killing five people - a patient and four viable babies that prosecutors say were born alive. He has also been charged with performing late-term abortions that violate Pennsylvania’s 24-week limit on the procedure.

Barbarism in Philadelphia

The crimes of Kermit Gosnell

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for abortionist Kermit Gosnell, who is on trial in Philadelphia for doping one patient to death and killing seven fetuses born alive. He doubtless seems a worthy candidate for death row. Dr. Gosnell, after all, is a monster. Yet his barbarity never required him to venture much beyond the expansive abortion rights created by Roe v. Wade and its companion 1973 Supreme Court decision, Doe v. Bolton. Dr. Gosnell, indeed, could argue that he had a constitutional right to slaughter his very young victims. If instead we insist Kermit Gosnell should die, then perhaps we must reexamine Roe and Doe.

Dr. Gosnell was a merciless killer, willing to perform abortions at any stage of pregnancy. He routinely induced labor in women more than six months pregnant and then cut the spines of their breathing newborns. This was Gosnell’s “standard procedure,” according to the grand jury report. “These killings became so routine,” in fact, “that no one could put an exact number on them.”

Online Furor Draws Press to Abortion Doctor’s Trial

Through four weeks, prosecutors have laid out evidence against Dr. Kermit Gosnell, a Philadelphia abortion provider on trial on charges of killing seven viable fetuses by “snipping” their necks with scissors and of causing the death of a pregnant 41-year-old woman during a procedure.

The grisly details drew mainly local attention. But after an online furor that the case was being ignored by the national news media because of troubling accounts of late-term abortions, reporters from major newspapers and television networks descended Monday on the Court of Common Pleas. It was the latest example of the power of social media to drive a wide debate, similar to the attention paid to a rape trial last month in Steubenville, Ohio, that resulted in the conviction of two teenage football players.

Life Comes Last

If half a million people march for life on Washington, D.C., and the media pretend not to hear them, did they still make a statement in defense of the unborn? Ask the corporate media flacks and their Democratic overlords, and I’m quite sure they’d respond: “Did you hear about the college football player and his fake girlfriend?”

A half million citizens did shake down the thunder in our Nation’s Capitol this past weekend; and the media did ignore their roar, opting instead for incisive coverage of a linebacker’s love life. In fact, the March for Life — which managed to draw a crowd more than five times the size of a sold-out Notre Dame home game without any of the criminal hijinks or mountains of litter of a liberal get-together — fell behind not only Manti Te’o’s heartbreak on the information superhighway but also behind a comparatively meager get-together of anti-2nd Amendment activists.

The AbortionNO web project is an animated presentation of the most compelling, anti-abortion arguments and images on the internet. AbortionNO mixes scientific fact, historical examination, and contemporary analysis with the most sobering 1st trimester and 2nd trimester abortion images in existence.

WARNING: Abortion is an act of violence that kills a baby. CBR’s site graphically depicts that reality.

CBR (Center for Bio-Ethical Reform) (and the RPMC) condemns all abortion related violence and will not associate with groups or individuals who fail to condemn such violence.

The One Thing The Media Isn’t Telling You About The Blind Chinese Activist

He’s Pro-Life.

Obviously the story of Chen Guangcheng, a blind activist who fears for his life at the hands of China’s government is compelling.

–SNIP– But in a nearly 1,900 word article about Guangcheng, the Washington Post reporters never tell readers exactly what Guangcheng protests about the Chinese state.

In another enormous article from the New York Times, the crux of his opposition to the Chinese government isn’t mentioned until paragraph 19.

–SNIP– But what is his activism all about?

These articles constantly use terms like “human rights dissident” or “advocate for the disabled” to describe him. But that doesn’t really tell you anything.

The truth is: Guangcheng is an anti-abortion activist. His main opposition to the Chinese government is its “one-child policy” and its forced sterilizations.

The End Of Paternity

Picture. (In the not so distant future.)

I am a professional young man in his 20’s. I just met this girl and she is quite attractive. We meet to have a few drinks. One thing leads to another and, well, you know. We talk a few times after that but it just doesn’t seem to be working, so I don’t call her back anymore.

A few weeks later she calls me at work and says we need to talk. “What for?”

“Just meet me.”

I met her at Starbucks’s after work and she looks like she might have been crying. After an awkward hug and a kiss, we sit down with our drinks and then blammo…

“I am pregnant.”

I paused for a moment and then said, “Ok. Why tell me?”

Abortion Debate: Pro-Choice Arguments Ditched by Liberal Professor
College Republicans to Leave Empty Podium

Milwaukee, WI — The College Republicans at Marquette University attempted to bring an honest to debate to campus on Abortion. The club organized Pro-Life University of North Carolina - Wilmington Criminology Professor Mike Adams to face off against Pro-Choice Marquette University Theology Professor Dan Maguire. That was in September, by the time February rolled around Dr. Maguire had a change of heart. The ultra-liberal professor cancelled his appearance at the debate. He cited Adams’ lack of Theology background to combat Maguire’s theological arguments.

The College Republicans in co-sponsorship with Young American’s for Freedom - Marquette, the Student Government Activity Fee, and Young America’s Foundation will still host Mike Adams on Thursday, March 1st at 7pm in the Alumni Memorial Union for a discussion on his Pro-Life views.

“To signify the late term abortion of the debate, we will have an empty podium. This will signify Dr. Maguire’s abandonment of his students,” said event organizer Maggie Gervase. “We tried to host an event that students would be attracted to. Instead, liberal Maguire wanted to have a theological only debate which would likely bore the vast majority of students.”

There is still space for the event with Mike Adams. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. Adams will present for about a half hour before opening the floor to question and answer.

For more information about Wednesday’s event or the College Republicans please contact marquettecrs@gmail.com or call (920) 474-MUCR(6827).

Abortion Debate: Liberal Professor Bails on Marquette Students

The College Republicans at Marquette University were eagerly anticipating a debate on abortion set for March 1st. The organization had booked Marquette theology professor Dan Maguire, S.T.D., an outspoken pro-choice liberal, and Dr. Mike Adams, a professor at the University of North Carolina – Wilmington and an energetic pro-life advocate. The debate was to be funded in part by the Marquette University Student Government Activity Fee and Young America’s Foundation.

The Media’s Abortion Blinders

In the most recent Gallup poll on abortion, as many Americans described themselves as pro-life as called themselves pro-choice. A combined 58 percent of Americans stated that abortion should either be “illegal in all circumstances” or “legal in only a few circumstances.” These results do not vary appreciably by gender: in the first Gallup poll to show a slight pro-life majority, conducted in May 2009, half of American women described themselves as pro-life.

But if you’ve followed the media frenzy surrounding the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation’s decision — which it backpedaled from, with an apology, after a wave of frankly brutal coverage — to discontinue about $700,000 in funding for Planned Parenthood, you would think all these millions of anti-abortion Americans simply do not exist.

Obama plays his Catholic allies for fools

In politics, the timing is often the message. On Jan. 20 — three days before the annual March for Life — the Obama administration announced its final decision that Catholic universities, hospitals and charities will be compelled to pay for health insurance that covers sterilization, contraceptives and abortifacients.

Preparing for the march, Catholic students gathered for Mass at Verizon Center. The faithful held vigil at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Knights of Columbus and bishops arrived to trudge in the cold along the Mall. All came to Washington in time for their mocking.

Catholic leaders are still trying to process the implications of this ambush. The president had every opportunity to back down from confrontation. In the recent Hosanna-Tabor ruling, a unanimous Supreme Court reaffirmed a broad religious autonomy right rooted in the Constitution. Obama could have taken the decision as justification for retreat.

–SNIP– Consider Catholicism’s most prominent clerical leader, Cardinal-designate Timothy Dolan, head of the Conference of Catholic Bishops. Dolan had pursued a policy of engagement with the administration. In November, he met face to face with Obama, who was earnestly reassuring on conscience protections. On Jan. 20, during a less-cordial phone conversation, Obama informed Dolan that no substantial concession had been made. How can Dolan make the argument for engagement now?
