Reporter Lara Logan brings ominous news from Middle East
Her ominous and frightening message was gleaned from years of covering our wars in the Middle East. She arrived in Chicago on the heels of her Sept. 30 report, “The Longest War.” It examined the Afghanistan conflict and exposed the perils that still confront America, 11 years after 9/11.
Eleven years later, “they” still hate us, now more than ever, Logan told the crowd. The Taliban and al-Qaida have not been vanquished, she added. They’re coming back.
“I chose this subject because, one, I can’t stand, that there is a major lie being propagated . . .” Logan declared in her native South African accent.
The lie is that America’s military might has tamed the Taliban.

Why Did Obama Seal His Transcripts?
“Most presidents have given their college records,” Donald Trump recently told Greta Van Susteren on the subject of transparency. “All presidents have given to the best of my knowledge their passport records.”
Newt Gingrich made a similar appeal. As he told the Daily Caller, “I think every Obama request for transparency should be met with ‘do we get to see your senior paper at Columbia?’”
The question that needs to be asked, of course, is why has Obama sealed all of his transcripts, his theses, and his test scores. David Maraniss had the opportunity to find out when he interviewed the president for his half-baked biography, “Barack Obama: The Story.” He failed to do so.

Who is Barack Obama?
–SNIP– In 2005, then-Senator Barack Obama went on a mission to Russia with Senator Richard Lugar (R-IN). The newly-minted U.S. senator was invited to be part of a Russian fact-finding tour that inspected a nuclear weapons site in Perm, Siberia. The base Lugar and Obama visited was where mobile launch missiles were being destroyed under the Cooperative Threat Reduction program (CTR), which also went by the name of the Nunn-Lugar program.
What happened next — after the inspections were over — was at the time reported by several foreign news sources but was never reported in the USA by the CMM. The Russians detained Obama and Lugar for three hours at the airport, demanding to examine both Obama’s and Lugar’s passports and search their plane. Some sources reported that the Russians accused Barack Obama of being a spy.
But wait — there’s more!
According to an Italian source, the Russians did not accuse Obama of being an American spy; they accused him of being a spy for the British! The report went on to say that the incident ended up involving the White House, the U.S. State Department, and military officials, along with their counterparts in Moscow.
Strangely enough, an official report from Lugar’s office about the trip never mentioned the incident. Neither did Barack Obama in 2008 when he was desperate to exhibit some foreign policy chops.
One other oddity: in the fall of 2008, Obama admitted on his Fightthesmears.com site that he had held dual citizenship with both the United States and Great Britain (the site explained that this was due to Barack Obama, Sr. being a foreign national) until 1982. Did the Russians know something about Obama’s citizenship in 2005 that ordinary Americans don’t know in 2011?
Another story no one has seen fit to ask about: Obama’s Most Excellent Pakistani Adventure.

Still no trial of 9/11 mastermind
Military official’s careful approach slows pace of Mohammed trial
The military officer overseeing the prosecution of Khalid Sheik Mohammed is taking a go-slow approach that would bring the confessed Sept. 11 mastermind to trial months, or perhaps years, from now.
It was seven years ago that the CIA in Pakistan captured KSM, as the former senior al Qaeda officer is known, and eventually turned him over to U.S. military custody for a war crimes trial at the Navy base in Guantanamo, Cuba.
It was six months ago that Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. relented to political pressure in New York and Washington, and reversed his decision to try KSM in a civilian court in the Big Apple.
Since then, retired Navy Vice Adm. Bruce MacDonald, who as the “convening authority” is overseeing prosecutions of terror suspects by military commissions, has set out a step-by-step process behind the scenes to begin the most prominent trial of the five 9/11 co-conspirators held in Cuba.
–SNIP– “People want justice for the acts of 9/11,” Mr. Stimson said. “Justice delayed, in their minds, is justice denied, as the saying goes.

Obama’s cheap ’shot’
These men died with honor, but the president dishonors their memories
Thirty American troops came home to Dover Air Force Base last week.
They died when their helicopter was shot down in Afghanistan by Taliban with rocket-propelled grenades. Many were members of SEAL Team Six, the fabled special operations unit that flew stealth choppers into Pakistan after Osama bin Laden, putting the old monster down in a pile of his porno tapes.
Nineteen of the 30 families asked for no media coverage of the ceremony at Dover — that request for privacy was, of course, honored.
By everyone, that is, except Barack Obama.
He slipped in a personal photographer, who snapped a dramatic photo of the president saluting in silhouette.
This was not an item for the private Obama scrapbook, to go beside a copy of the Standard & Poor’s letter downgrading America’s credit rating. The White House pushed it to every major media outlet, and made it “Photo of the Day” on its official website. It was an obvious attempt to carve an iconic image into the American consciousness with a mass-media chisel.
