Is Justice Bradley Unstable?

With all due respect, that question is begged by the Dane County Sheriff’s Department and its handling of information disclosed to its investigators in the recent Wisconsin Supreme Court controversy.

Several sentences describing interviews with Justice Bradley and her husband are blacked out in the official reports:

The Department’s explanation is that it was observing statutory guidelines in redacting material concerning “medical, mental health, juvenile, and financial information” that could be damaging to “the reputation of any person referred to” in the investigative record. But it was OK to include Bradley and her husband’s statements to investigators that damaged the reputation of Justice David Prosser?

Prosser wins recount - AGAIN!

Prosser wins recount in Wisconsin Supreme Court race

By Patrick Marley, Larry Sandler and Mike Johnson of the Journal, 5/20/2011

With the weeks-long recount complete, unofficial numbers confirm that state Supreme Court Justice David Prosser narrowly defeated Assistant Attorney General JoAnne Kloppenburg in the April 5 election.

But the battle may not be over yet, as Kloppenburg mulls whether to challenge the results in court.

And if a legal contest goes on long enough, attorneys say it could delay efforts to swear Prosser in for a new term on Aug. 1, leading to a temporary vacancy on the closely divided high court.

Final recount numbers submitted to the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board show Prosser with 7,006 more votes than Kloppenburg.

GAB: Online registration a ‘big deal’, recounts and recalls plow ahead

By Wisconsin Reporter, 5/18/2011

MADISON — Wisconsinites soon will use an online application for voter registration, Government Accountability Board staff members announced during a meeting on Tuesday.

Staff from the nonpartisan state agency also gave more details regarding challenges to recall petition signatures and updated the board on the ongoing recount of the state Supreme Court race between Justice David Prosser and challenger JoAnne Kloppenburg.

Among the meeting’s highlights:

• “This is a really big deal,” GAB Elections Division Administrator Nat Robinson said of soon-to-be-available online voting registration. Voters still must sign the form in person to be officially registered to vote. But GAB staff expect that the completion of online forms will make for a faster, more efficient voter-registration process.

GAB staff said they couldn’t give an exact date for when the system will be up and running.

“Bear in mind that there are some timing issues, given that we seem to have an election every month,” GAB staff member Sarah Whitt said, drawing laughs.

How much is Kloppenburg’s recount costing taxpayers?

Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Recount

On April 20th, Joanne Kloppenburg demanded a recount of the 1.5 million votes cast in the April 5th election at the expense of taxpayers. The facts remain the same: Justice David Prosser was reelected by a margin of 7,316 votes, the results reaffirmed by a state-mandated county-conducted canvas. Historically over the past 20 years, statewide recounts change vote totals on-average 300 votes.

If Prosser = Walker as the Democrats said . . .

And Prosser wins, doesn’t that mean that Scott Walker also wins?

Ballots are now totaled: Prosser wins by 7,316

JSonline.com, 4/15/2011

State Supreme Court Justice David Prosser emerged as the winner Friday over challenger JoAnne Kloppenburg in an election that drew national attention because of the fight over collective bargaining and a vote tallying error in Waukesha County following initial results that showed Kloppenburg leading the race.

SRWC luncheon on Mon Mar 21

ON: MONDAY, March 21, 2011 (Not the normal meeting day)
AT: The Anchorage/Hilton, 4700 N. Port Washington Rd

TIME: 11:30 A.M. Social/Sign In, 12:00 P.M. Luncheon

SPEAKER: Supreme Court Justice Prosser & 82nd Assemblyman Jeff Stone
TOPIC: Supreme Court & MKE County Executive April Candidates

Due to the importance of the April 5 election, we are changing our normal day of the month to meet on MONDAY in March. Jeff Stone is campaigning to replace Scott Walker as Milwaukee County Executive. Jeff Stone will be arriving early (by 11:30 am) to meet you and can only stay a short time after we start. So come early to have a chance to talk with him one-on-one and learn how he plans to continue the efforts to control spending and limit government.

We are also honored to welcome current Supreme Court Justice Prosser who is being tied up in meetings all March, which severely limits his ability to get out and campaign and meet voters. Justice Prosser has served on the State Supreme Court for 12 years. He is a judicial conservative, devoted to the Constitution and rule of law. Current laws and his schedule make re-election exceedingly difficult. He needs votes! As Justice Gableman said, every vote over the past two years in the Supreme Court would have swung the other way without our efforts for voter turnout. We can’t let it swing back! In addition, we will be getting an update on the M-T school situation. Bring your questions & friends!

RSVP by Tues., March 15 — the earlier, the easier our job. Please MAIL CHECK to: Polly Porter, 10846 N. Essex Drive, Mequon, WI 53092 (262-512-0747 for questions). Payable to SRWC ($15 members & their guests / $20 non-members after 1st visit). Membership is $20. (Please inquire about the cost if you are a current WFRW member.) Lunch is Beef Tips. Please note if you prefer a vegetarian entree. RSVP via email to SRWCmilwaukee@aol.com. Also, we now have a children’s chicken strips/fries option for $10. Child must be accompanying a full-paying adult.
