Are You Smarter Than A Fifth-Columnist?

By Alicia Colon, Tuesday September 15, 2009

Many concerned Americans breathed a sigh of relief when the Special Advisor for Green Jobs, Anthony “Van” Jones, resigned. The idea of an avowed communist as the president’s “Green Jobs Czar” was not only alarming; it prompted the question of how carefully he was vetted. Is there no longer a requirement that personnel at the White House obtain a security clearance? After viewing the videos of Mr. Jones’s radical speeches, however, I was more alarmed at the audience cheering them. How clever are the fifth columnists and how dumb are we that we didn’t recognize the enemy?

When the Berlin Wall came down and the Soviet Union collapsed, we idealistically assumed that this meant we had defeated communism. The disciples of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, however, who were firmly entrenched in Hollywood, the mainstream media, and academia, cleverly adapted to an agenda that appealed to the naïve.

Under the guise of compassion for the afflicted, promoting environmental and ecological responsibility, and animal rights, the Communist Manifesto morphed into the progressive movement. The goals, however, remained the same: the overthrow of our capitalist free enterprise system and obtaining control over our economy.

Definition: A fifth column is a group of people who clandestinely undermine a larger group, such as a nation, from within, to the aid of an external enemy.

House votes to cut off funding, but 75 stand by ACORN

The House of Representatives just voted overwhelmingly to de-fund ACORN, 345-75. The vote came on a Republican motion to recommit the educational loan bill. As a result, the anti-ACORN provision made it into the House-passed bill.

Still, your tax dollars can still fund ACORN in many, many other ways.

When will Speaker Pelosi call for Congressional investigations? When will the Obama Justice Department investigate?

Why hasn’t President Obama (an ACORN volunteer) called for a special prosecutor?

And Congress wants to do what?

(Received by email)

To the Congress:

The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775 - you have had 234 years to get it right; it is broke.

Social Security was established in 1935 - you have had 74 years to get it right; it is broke.

Fannie Mae was established in 1938 - you have had 71 years to get it right; it is broke.

The “War on Poverty” started in 1964 - you have had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to “the poor”; it hasn’t worked and our entire country is broke.

Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965 - you’ve had 44 years to get it right; they are broke.

Freddie Mac was established in 1970 - you have had 39 years to get it right; it is broke.

Trillions of dollars were spent in the massive political payoffs called TARP, the “Stimulus”, the Omnibus Appropriations Act of 2009… none show any signs of working, although ACORN appears to have found a new source: the American taxpayer.

And finally, to set a new record:

“Cash for Clunkers” was established in 2009 and went broke in 2009! It took cars (that were the best some people could afford) and replaced them with high-priced and less-affordable cars, mostly Japanese. A good percentage of the profits went out of the country. And the American taxpayers take the hit for Congress’ generosity in burning three billion more of our dollars on failed experiments.

So with a failure rate like this, and a record that proves that “services” you shove down our throats are failing faster and faster, you want Americans to believe you can be trusted with a government-run health care system?

15% of our entire economy?

With all due respect,

Are you crazy?

Obama Admin: Cap And Trade Could Cost Families $1,761 A Year

Posted by Declan McCullagh, Sept. 15, 2009
The Obama administration has privately concluded that a cap and trade law would cost American taxpayers up to $200 billion a year, the equivalent of hiking personal income taxes by about 15 percent.

A previously unreleased analysis prepared by the U.S. Department of Treasury says the total in new taxes would be between $100 billion to $200 billion a year. At the upper end of the administration’s estimate, the cost per American household would be an extra $1,761 a year.

A second memorandum, which was prepared for Obama’s transition team after the November election, says this about climate change policies: “Economic costs will likely be on the order of 1 percent of GDP, making them equal in scale to all existing environmental regulation.”

Too late for Obama to turn it around?

Plus: The left’s visionaries lost their bearings on drugs — but the GOP is led by losers

By Camille Paglia

Sept. 9, 2009 | What a difference a month makes! When my last controversial column posted on Salon in the second week of August, most Democrats seemed frozen in suspended animation, not daring to criticize the Obama administration’s bungling of healthcare reform lest it give aid and comfort to the GOP. Well, that ice dam sure broke with a roar. Dissident Democrats found their voices, and by late August even the liberal lemmings of the mainstream media, from CBS to CNN, had dramatically altered their tone of reportage, from priggish disdain of the town hall insurgency to frank admission of serious problems in the healthcare bills as well as of Obama’s declining national support.

St. Martin’s Fair - Crowd Estimates

Carson Lunde was using a clicker counter to count people as they were walking past the RPMC booth at St. Martin’s fair today, Monday Sept. 8, 2009. He counted 400 people passing the booth one way between 7:15 AM and 7:45 AM, or about 800 people per hour. A similar amount passes back on the other side of the street.

Later, at about 11 a.m., I was counting people as they they were walking past (and walking up to) the booth. I counted, on average, about 50 people PER MINUTE walking by the booth, one way. So St. Martin’s fair should be about 3,000 people one way, per hour, past our booth. LOTS of interested people, with not much love for the Democrats and what they have done to our state. Things got even more crowded in the early afternoon, but fairgoers were wearying in the hot sun, and appreciated our shady side of the street. Lots of acorns hitting our tent. Why is another ACORN after the Republicans?

Question: With 3,000 people per hour, where are the candidates at this amazingly popular local event?

Obama Critic Gives MoveOn the Finger — Doesn’t Get It Back

by Mary Katharine Ham, www.weeklystandard.com

Well, William Rice didn’t actually give MoveOn the finger — his pinky was forcibly removed by an Obamacare supporter’s teeth.

Rice, a 65-year-old real-estate appraiser from Newbury Park, Calif., expected some heated arguments when he went to a health care protest in Thousand Oaks. He did not expect to leave without his finger.

Rice was part of a small group of counter-protesters who showed up to a MoveOn-sponsored “We Can’t Afford to Wait” vigil. The two groups were on opposite sides of the street. At one point, a man from the MoveOn side of the street crossed over to confront Obama critics. Rice got in an altercation with the man, who bit off his pinky finger in the scuffle, down to the second knuckle, Rice said. The man, who is pictured leaving the scene in this group of photos, is still at large.

RPMC Releases Straw Poll Results from State Fair

Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Republican Party of Milwaukee County conducted a straw poll on the announced Republican Gubernatorial candidates at their booth during the 11 days of the Wisconsin State Fair. The results from the Straw Poll are as follows:

Walker 2420
Neumann 132
Todd 44

Republican Party Chairman David Karst said “I was not surprised with the outstanding support that Scott Walker received during the fair.” Karst said “the Walker campaign signed up hundreds of volunteers at the booth for Walker.” This was a non-scientific straw poll. Individuals cast their vote by placing quarters into “ballot boxes” for each candidate, each quarter counted as one vote and people could vote multiple times.

All of this good news come on the wake of the announcement by Jim Doyle that he will not seek re-election for a third term – Karst said he believes that Doyle knew that he could not beat Walker statewide and that is why he decided at this late date not to run again.
